When a section separates, conditioned air dumps into the attic, crawl space, or wall cavity instead of the room it was meant to serve. Crushed or kinked flexible duct

The affected room will have noticeably weak or nearly nonexistent flow even when the system is running full blast. If you can safely access your attic or crawl space and take a look, a kinked run is often visible to the eye without any tools.
Dirty or failing system components
A clogged air filter is the first thing to rule out – a severely restricted filter starves the entire system and can make airflow feel uneven across the house because the unit simply cannot move enough air. Beyond the filter, a dirty evaporator coil or a blower wheel coated in debris will reduce the total volume of air the system pushes, with the weakest results at the farthest registers. If replacing the filter does not improve things within a day or two, the problem is likely deeper in the system.
